   STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE HIGH SCHOOL BOMB THREAT

   On Sunday, June 10, 2007, shortly after 12:30 a.m., State Police at Troop L in Litchfield received a telephone threat where the caller stated, “At 7:30, Monday morning, I am going to blow up the high school.”   The caller gave no further information and terminated the call.

   State Police initiated a criminal investigation immediately upon termination of the call. All police agencies were notified of the threat and the content of the telephone call to  enable them to communicate with their local school officials regarding the potential threat to their local high schools.

   State Police Major Crime Detectives responded to work with Patrol Troopers in conducting this criminal investigation.

   Additional State Police patrols will be provided on Monday morning to the High Schools located in State Police jurisdiction in Northwest Connecticut to provide added security to each facility.

   This criminal investigation is continuing.  State Police are asking anyone who may have information regarding this case to call State Police at 860 567-6800.  All calls will be kept confidential.
