TELEPHONE BOMB THREAT MADE TO NORWICH COURT;
STATE POLICE MAKE 2 ARRESTS

     On Tuesday August 28th, 2007 at 8:53 a.m. a telephone bomb threat was made where the caller reported a bomb threat at the court house in Norwich G.A. 21 located on Court Street in Norwich, CT.

     State Police Troopers notified the Judicial Marshals at the courthouse in Norwich and the Norwich Police Department in regards to the bomb threat.

     The court house was evacuated and a search of the building and premises was conducted by  State Police personnel assisted by the Judicial Marshals. State Police Emergency Services Unit K-9 teams also responded to the scene.

     State Troopers from Troop K developed investigative information in regards to the origin of the call and the identity of the caller. Based on that information Troopers located a suspect car and conducted a motor stop on of a suspect vehicle.

     As a result of the on scene investigation at that motor vehicle stop one subject was taken into custody and a second subject was taken into custody at another location a short time later.  

ARRESTED:  1. HERSEY, Arland,  age 40,  d.o.b. 12/16/1966

                      135 Sillmanville Road, Moodus (East Haddam), CT

                   2.   LINEBERRY, Charles,  age 37,  d.o.b.04/04/1970

                      135 Sillmanville Road, Moodus (East Haddam), CT

   The accused were both charged with the following crimes:  Breach of Peace, Falsely Reporting an Incident 1st Degree, Threatening 1st Degree, Conspiracy to Commit Breach of Peace, Conspiracy to Commit Falsely Reporting an Incident 1st Degree, Conspiracy to Commit Threatening in the 1st Degree.

   Both subjects were taken G.A 21 for arraignment in the afternoon.

   Subsequently at 10:39 a.m., a second bomb threat was made at the court via a telephone call. That incident remains under investigation.
