On Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at approximately 12:33 p.m., a male subject attempted to rob the TD BankNorth located at #500 Route 157 (Main Street) in the Town of Middlefield.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the subject entered the bank and presented a note to one of the bank tellers indicating that it was his intent to rob the bank. No weapon was shown. The subject fled the bank without receiving any money and was last seen on foot fleeing the bank. No vehicle was seen or connected to this attempted robbery.

The suspect is being described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall and wearing a blue cap, blue sweater and possibly carrying a blue cloth bag.

Efforts to locate the suspect included Troopers responding to the immediate area and additional Troopers responding the surrounding areas. State Police K-9’s were utilized and the state Police Aviation Unit also responded. During the initial course of this investigation, all local police agencies were contacted and advised of the attempted bank robbery.

State Police Detectives from the State Police Major Crime Unit were assigned to this investigation. During the course of the on-scene investigation, State Police Detectives contacted the Wallingford Police Department and learned that this incident was similar to an attempted bank robbery reported and investigated in Wallingford on Tuesday, April 10, 2007.
