                         HUMAN SKELETAL REMAINS IDENTIFIED

On 11/14/06 at approximately 3:15 p.m State Police Troop-L received a 911 call to report that the caller had discovered a human skull in the wooded area adjacent the RT 8 N/B on the Campville Rd. exit #41 ramp. 

Troop-L Troopers and State Police Western District Major Crime Squad Detectives responded to the scene.  The area was secured and Major Crime Detectives Initiated a criminal investigation.

The remains were transported to the Office of the Chief State’s Medical Examiner to attempt to determine the manner and cause of death and to aid State Police Detectives in making a positive identification.

On 12/04/06 the remains were identified as those of Jessica Marie Muskus  DOB: 01/19/82 of Waterbury, who had been  reported missing on 08/02/04 from Waterbury.  Waterbury PD has been conducting a missing person investigation in to the disappearance of the victim. .

State Police Western District Major Crime Squad will continue the investigation working with Waterbury Police to determine the cause of death of Jessica Muskus.
