                         STATE POLICE & LOCAL POLICE ARREST

                                   BANK ROBBERY SUSPECT

Today Friday, October 20, 2006 at approximately 11:38 A.M. Connecticut State Police Troopers from Troop E in Montville, East Lyme Resident Troopers Office, East Lyme Police and State Police Detectives from the Eastern District Major Crime Squad responded to a reported bank robbery at the Citizens Bank at 43 Pennsylvania Ave., East Lyme, CT. 

During the incident, a lone white male entered the bank, and demanded cash from the tellers. The suspect fled the bank on foot and entered a dark colored Toyota Station wagon. The suspect made off with an undetermined amount of cash. There were no reported injuries. 

A search of the area was conducted by responding State Police Troopers.  All pertinent descriptive information regarding the suspect was broadcast to area police departments.A short time later the suspect vehicle was observed by a Montville Police Officer on patrol. The suspect was operating his vehicle on Rt. 85 in the town of Montville.

The suspect vehicle was stopped by State Troopers and Local Police Officer.  The suspect was taken into custody without incident.  The suspect was transported to Troop E Montville where he was processed and held in lieu of a $250,000 cash bond pending his arraignment in court on 10/23/06.

Charges: Robbery 1st Degree

                 Larceny 2nd Degree

The accused is being held on a $250,000 bond to be arraigned in Superior Court GA #10 on 10/23/06.
