Details:

The Connecticut State Police, Western District Major Crime Squad is investigating a homicide which occurred on I-84 Westbound at exit 2, in the town of Danbury, on 01/17/2000 between 2230 hours and 2300  hours. The victim, Mark F. Rebong was driving a 1999 Jeep Cherokee color black, CT Reg. 329NCR and was on his way to work at the Hilton Hotel in Danbury where he was employed as the Night Manager. The victim was traveling from his home in Newtown, he got on I-84 Westbound at exit 9 and exited at exit 2A/B. At some point while traveling on exit 2 the victim was fatally shot. Anyone who may have been traveling along I-84 Westbound near exit 2 in Danbury on 01/17/2000, between 10:30 and 11:15 P.M. and may have witnessed this Homicide is asked to call the Connecticut State Police.

The Connecticut State Police Western District Major Crime Squad conducted an extensive investigation into this homicide
. All investigative resources were used including out of state police assistance, the forensic and reconstructive services of  Dr. Henry Lee and the Connecticut State Police Forensic Laboratory.  State Police investigators worked extensively to investigate all leads and information during this investigation.

The Danbury State's Attorney's Office and the State Police applied for and received a $50,000
reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the homicide of  Mark Rebong.

On 10/17/00 the Honorable John G. Rowland Governor granted the reward request of $50,000. 
Additionally the friends and family of  Mark Rebong have raised an additional $50,000 to be added to the State's Reward.  Total reward being offered in this case is $100,000.00.

Anyone who may have been traveling along 1-84 westbound near exit #2 Danbury between 10:00
p.m.  and 12 midnight and may have witnesses this incident is asked to call the Connecticut State Police
