The Connecticut Freedom of Information Act gives you the right to obtain records and attend meetings of all public agencies with certain exceptions.

Guidance for Requests that Pose a Security or Safety Risk

Under the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act, there are certain exemptions that prevent the release of information that could apply to the release o information a security or safety risk to the any person or public facility.If an FOI request comes to a municipal, district, or regional agency and the agency wishes to withhold all or part of the requested records on the basis that there is a resonal grounds that disclosure may result in a safety risk, then the Chief Executive Offficer of that agency must request a determination of the safety risk from the Co missioner of DESPP. Such requests may be sent to Attorney Brenda Bergeron.

If the FOI request comes to a State Executive Agency the safety risk determination must be requested from the State Department of Administrative Services.
