Nuclear Safety Emergency Fund

Overview

The Nuclear Safety Emergency fund was established in 1981 to provide funding to municipalities and state agencies to enhance the safety of Connecticut's nuclear power generation facilities. The operators of Connecticut's nuclear power generation facility located in Waterford and the operators of the now decommissioned nuclear generation in Haddam provide annual funding for planning, training, exercises and the purchase of specialized response equipment that is directly related to the goal of maintaining and improving safety and response to emergencies at the nuclear power generation facility.

This program is administered in collaboration with the DEMHS Radiological Emergency Preparedness unit and the Strategic Planning and Community Preparedness unit and the DEEP Radiological Division.
