LEP Verifications
In specific circumstances, an environmental professional licensed pursuant to Connecticut General Statutes (CGS) Section 22a-133v (LEP) may "verify" that an investigation of a specific property/establishment/release area/portion of a property has been completed in accordance with prevailing standards and guidelines, and that all applicable releases have been remediated in accordance with the Remediation Standard Regulations (RSRs).
A LEP may render a "verification" pursuant to the following:
- Property Transfer Law - CGS Section 22a-134a
- Voluntary Remediation Program - CGS Section 22a-133x and Section 133y
- RCRA Corrective Action - RCSA Section 22a-449(c)-105
- Brownfields Remediation & Revitalization Program - CGS Section 32-769
- Any other law, regulation, order, permit, license or approval, provided the Commissioner has delegated such authority to a LEP
Investigation, or site characterization, is expected to be conducted in accordance with prevailing standards and guidelines. The Site Characterization webpage provides resources that assist the environmental professional in understanding the standard of care expected when characterizing a site under various Connecticut cleanup programs.
Pursuant to CGS Sections 22a-133x and 22a-134a, verifications rendered by a LEP shall be submitted on a form prescribed by the Commissioner. The Commissioner has prescribed the following Verification Forms as such forms. Verifications rendered by a LEP for the other specific circumstances itemized above are expected to be submitted on a form provided by the Commissioner.
