Water Discharge Permits and General Permits
|
Effective October 1, 2013, if an applicant is required by law to publish notice of their permit/license application, the applicant must submit a copy of the published notice and a completed "Certification of Notice" form with their application materials (Public Act 13-209). Applications will not be processed by DEEP if the required notice documents and initial application fee are not included in the application submittal.
Application forms and instructions are in the process of being updated to include the new requirements.

Notes: If the discharge is composed solely of groundwater remediation wastewater and is discharged to a sanitary sewer or to surface water, the discharger must file for authorization under the General Permit for the Discharge of Groundwater Remediation Wastewater (unless there is insufficient flow in the receiving water to meet the dilution requirements in the general permit for discharges to surface water).

Permit Applications for Wastewater Discharges
There are four main individual wastewater permit applications which include discharges from Agricultural Activates, Domestic Sewage Treatment Works, Subsurface Sewage Treatment and Disposal, and Manufacturing, Commercial and Other Activities. Depending on your proposed wastewater discharges, you will need to use one of the four the main forms listed below and you will also need to download one or more of the supporting documents listed further below. Review the applicable main instructions for a summary of which supporting documents and attachments must be submitted for each type of discharge.
