Geographic Information Systems

Geographic Information Systems at DEEP plays an important role in the DEEP's mission of protecting and preserving the environment for present and future generations. DEEP develops and maintains a statewide automated geographic storage and retrieval system that can rapidly integrate and analyze large amounts of spatial map and file data over any selected geographic area.

DEEP develops and shares geospatial information with federal, state, and municipal government agencies such as the U.S. Geological Survey, Environmental Protection Agency, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Connecticut Department of Public Health, Connecticut Department of Transportation, and the Connecticut Office of Policy and Management.

Visit our GIS Data Download Page

Our GIS Data page provides a wealth of GIS data available for download in NAD83 coordinate system via an ftp site.  This allows for faster downloads for larger files such as orthophotos and topographic data.  Check out GIS Data for DEEP's environmental resource downloads.

CT ECO Website
The Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP) and the University of Connecticut Center for Land Use Education and Research (CLEAR) have launched a new website, Connecticut Environmental Conditions Online (CT ECO) that includes the latest and most accessible online maps and tools for viewing Connecticut’s environmental and natural resource information.
CT ECO includes a variety of online maps and tools for viewing Connecticut’s environmental and natural resources such as protected open space, farmland soils, wetland soils, aquifer protection areas, water quality classifications, and drainage basins.  Each can be viewed separately or in conjunction with other environmental and natural resource information.
