Guaranty Fund

Through several special funds, the Department of Consumer Protection is sometimes able to offer repayment to consumers who have been financially damaged as a result of some problem transaction in new home construction, home improvement, real estate, or health club membership.
The required annual registration fees for these businesses include a small allocation toward the corresponding guaranty fund.
A consumer who seeks compensation from one of the guaranty funds must meet applicable conditions and guidelines.
