We have a legacy of excellent public schools and offer a wide array of top private school choices, as well as 38 colleges and universities. We also have the nation’s only unified technical high school system—committed to developing a next generation of technology-savvy workers.

As early as kindergarten, we’re integrating coding into all our K-12 classrooms, including the programs for our special needs students. In fact our legislators and educators make coding and computer science a statutory requirement for all K-12 curricula—and to provide teachers the support they need to integrate coding into everyday student life.

Connecticut’s high schools and college graduation rates are higher than average: about 90 percent of residents hold a high school diploma, and nearly 39 percent have at least a bachelor’s degree.

Beyond our own well-prepared high school grads, our highly ranked colleges and universities also attract more than 12,000 international students from across the country and around the globe. This includes Yale University in the heart of New Haven, and UConn, with its main campus in Storrs and a downtown presence in both Stamford and Hartford.

A focus on advanced manufacturing.

Connecticut is home to over 4,400 manufacturing firms. To keep pace with the need for skilled workers, the state has created Advanced Manufacturing Centers at several of our community colleges specifically. These Centers provide hands-on training for high-tech manufacturing careers in highly skilled, good paying fields as varied as aerospace, defense, robotics, programming and more.
